What does “1 AI Feed excluded” mean when I create a Feedly AI Feed?

You can’t create a Feedly AI Feed on top of another Feedly AI Feed. Here’s why.

Why does the "1 AI Feed excluded" message appear?

When you create a Feedly AI Feed, you can refine the sources Feedly AI scouts for you and ask it to read through the feeds you follow in your account. Sometimes, you might see a message like“1 AI Feed excluded,” which means that the Folder you selected includes a AI Feed that won’t be included in the search query.

Below, you are asking Feedly AI to look for “Autonomous Vehicles” in the default Market Intel bundle (curated by the Feedly team) and in our “Energy” Folder.

What does “1 AI Feed excluded” mean?

When “1 Feedly AI Feed excluded” appears as you’re refining sources for a new AI Feed, this means that your selected Folder — the “Energy” Folder in this example — contains 1 Feedly AI Feed and that Feedly AI won’t read through this AI Feed to look for “Autonomous Vehicles.” Instead, we will only look through the default Market Intel Bundle and your Energy feeds minus the AI Feed that is in your Energy Folder.

You can’t create a Feedly AI Feed on top of another AI Feed.

Today, you cannot create Feedly AI Feeds on top of other Feedly AI Feeds. This is because:

  1. When you create a Feedly AI Feed, there aren’t many benefits of creating a AI Feed on top of an existing AI Feed. Feedly AI will still look for the models you track across the sources you select.
  2. Removing layered AI Feed makes it technically possible for you to add custom sources (like your “Energy” Folder in the example above) to AI Feeds.
  3. Behind the scenes, creating AI Feeds on top of each other is incredibly complicated and difficult, so we simplify the process by excluding them.
